Chronic itching and other skin problems can make your pet very uncomfortable. While most skin problems are treatable, some can take a little time to correctly diagnose, while others respond slowly to therapy. Only a correct diagnosis can lead to proper therapy. At Angel Ridge Veterinary Service, we are able to define a correct diagnosis in the vast majority of skin problems
How We Diagnose Skin Problems
We begin with an extensive history of your pet, which will include the specifics of the current condition, such as how long the symptoms have existed and what remedies you may have already tried. We will give your pet a thorough physical examination, giving special attention to their skin.
Depending on what we discover in the history and the exam, we may suggest one or more of the following:
- Allergy tests through blood
- Bacteriological tests
- Blood tests
- Fungal culture
- Microscopic evaluation
- Special diets
Once we have the information required to make an accurate diagnosis, we will discuss with you your options for the treatment of your pet.
